Aurora Gun Club

Thank you for your interest in the Aurora Gun Club. Information about the club, our facilities and disciplines are available on the website. Aurora Gun Club is an inclusive, family-oriented indoor club. The AGC is a handgun club. If you are looking for a place to shoot rifles or shotguns, we aren’t the right club for you. If you are interested in joining our club your focus should be interested in shooting handguns indoors.

The Aurora Gun Club was established in 1958 by its six founding members in the basement of GW Williams High School in Aurora, ON. The range consisted of 2 positions, and only .22 caliber pistols were used.

Over the next couple of years, the club grew to about 24 charter members. In 1960, they obtained the finances to purchase the current 10-acre lot on St. John’s Side Road. The members commenced construction of a block building about 20’ x 150’, which provided a 60’ range with 6 firing ports, as well as a club room.

In 1965, an extension was made to the side of the club room, making way for a furnace room and a kitchen, and other amenities. Up to this time, there were two types of memberships: Charter members and non-charter members. In 1966, the club decide to adopt the current ‘owner membership’ model.

Today, the Aurora Gun Club boasts a following of roughly 500 members, drawn from all across the GTA, York Region and surrounding areas, making it one of the premier destinations for shooting sports in Ontario. The Aurora Gun Club has also proudly produced many champions, both past and present, who have achieved excellence as part of the Canadian Olympic Shooting Team and the Ontario Provincial Pistol Team.

Our members take great pride in their club and continue to make improvements to the quality of the facilities and its programs. It is a family-friendly environment, ideal for socializing, learning and perfecting ones marksmanship skills.
